Uniforms are everything in college football, and while we have seen some downright terrible ones over the years, it seems that most agree the military academies do uniform tweaks really better than anyone else. On Monday, the Air Force Academy proved that to us all once again.
For one game this upcoming season, the Air Force football program will be wearing some awesome helmets that will honor the F-35 fighter jet. They unveiled the new lid on their Twitter account Monday that came with a pretty awesome video for the introduction.

What makes this latest helmet from the Air Force academy is that the design of it mirrors what the pilots of the F-35 wear. It’s the latest in the Legacy Series of helmets from the academy, and there’s little doubt these will look simply incredible when they’re worn on the field at some point this coming season.

Now the helmet here is just the first part of the reveal. According to The Gazette, more decals for the helmet will be released in the future, as well as the full uniforms that the team will wear to go along with the lid.
What makes the service academy uniform tweaks so awesome is that they all have some sort of particular meaning, rather than just changing up the uniforms for the sake of change or flash. With virtually every uniform reveal we see from them, there’s an awesome story behind it. We all love feel good stories that surround patriotism, and uniforms like these do just that.
