Fantasy football Week 1 rankings: Who to start and sit
Sit: Dak Prescott
Of all the rookies we’ve seen enter the league over the years, Prescott looked like a seasoned veteran from day one in Dallas. I don’t recall a player being so poised and in control as a first year like Dak, and he’s got a huge future ahead of him.
However, the New York Giants have managed to stifle Prescott so far, and until he works out a way to get past them, I wouldn’t be confident giving him a start in my fantasy teams. In Week 1 last year, he threw the ball 45 times, but still only managed 227 yards and 25 completions (55.6 per cent). He had no picks, but no touchdowns in a narrow 20-19 loss.
In the second matchup with New York, Dak had his worst NFL and fantasy game of the season, throwing two interceptions (he only had two in the rest of the regular season!) and completing just 45.9 per cent of his passes as the offense could only drum up seven points.
The Giants defense was one of the most dominant in the league last year, and Jason Pierre-Paul, Olivier Vernon, Janoris Jenkins and Landon Collins haven’t got anywhere. Plus, the Cowboys will be without arguably their most important offensive player in Ezekiel Elliott. You might love Prescott as a player (as do I), but he has a tough matchup on Sunday night.
