The Cleveland Indians won their 15th game in a row, and it cost a local window company almost $2 million.

Back in July when Universal Windows Direct, based in Cleveland, offered a promotion to customers they probably did not see it coming true. They offered any customer who did business with the company during July a total refund if the Cleveland Indians won 15 straight games.

The win total matched how long the company has been in business — Universal Windows Direct was celebrating their 15th anniversary in July while offering the promotion.

On Thursday night the Indians beat the Chicago White Sox 11-2 for their 15th straight win. It breaks the record set last year by Cleveland for the franchise’s longest win streak. To add to the improbability of this occurring, 15 games is the longest streak in the league in the last 15 years.

The company’s co-owners, William Barr and Mike Strmac, held a watch party at Progressive Field with customers. One customer was not expecting it to even happened. In an ESPN article by Darren Rovell she was quoted:

"“I never believed it was going to happen, so I only started paying attention yesterday,” said Lorianne Sevic, who with her husband Dan paid the company to do $34,000 worth of windows, siding, doors and gutters in July that they will now get for free."

Luckily for the company they saw it coming. They took out a $75,00 insurance policy to cover the near $2 million in sales. They have submitted their claim. Rovell reports that the company will get the money within a week, prior to passing it out to customers.

The Indians will look to continue their streak against the Baltimore Orioles at home on Friday night. The team is in the lead in the AL Central by a comfortable 11 games and own the second best regular in the American League.
