College football Week 2 games canceled due to Hurricane Irma
These are the Week 2 college football games that were canceled by Hurricane Irma and those relocated due to the catastrophic natural disaster.
Florida Atlantic is the only program from the Sunshine State playing in Week 2 as they traveled to Madison, Wisconsin to take on the Badgers. As for the rest of programs in Florida, they saw their games canceled due to the wide-spread damage caused by Hurricane Irma.
- Florida vs. Northern Colorado.
- Florida State vs. Louisiana Monroe
- Miami vs. Arkansas State
- South Florida vs. Connecticut.
- Central Florida vs. Memphis.
Florida International played their game on Friday night but it was relocated from Miami to Birmingham’s Legions Field where they picked up a win over Alcorn State. The win was the first for head coach Butch Davis with the program.
At the time of publishing, the forecast for Hurricane Irma shows it heading toward the west coast of Florida. We certainly are keeping the fine folks in Florida in our thoughts for what they’ve already had to go through and what lies ahead. Hopefully, the storm will weaken and won’t cause any further catastrophic damage. Then, we can start looking forward to more football games. Football isn’t the most important thing here, while it is important, and beloved by countless people in the Sunshine State, their safety and well-being is paramount here. Football can serve as a distraction while people begin to rebuild and recover from Hurricane Irma’s wrath, but I also hope some of those big games won’t be affected next week.

The Week 3 schedule features a big game with Tennessee visiting the Florida Gators and Miami visiting Florida State. Canceling any additional games isn’t ideal, but I wonder if either or both of those marquee games would be canceled, relocated or have the game times changed due to Hurricane Irma or the next wave of storms that are brewing behind it.
Look for that to be one of the bigger off-the-field storylines in the week ahead.
