Lamar Jackson reminded everyone why he’s the reigning Heisman Trophy winner with a 47-yard touchdown run against the North Carolina Tar Heels.

For all the preseason talk about Sam Darnold, Saquon Barkley, Baker Mayfield and the other great college football players, there seemed to be a lot of people forgetting about Lamar Jackson returning for his junior season at Louisville.

In case you forgot, Jackson actually won the Heisman last year. And he’s looking like he’s well on his way again toward competing for the most prestigious individual honor in college athletics.

Early in the third quarter, Jackson already has 357 yards of total offense against the North Carolina Tar Heels after he burned their defense for a highlight-reel 47-yard touchdown run that made defenders look silly. Granted, it’s tough to stop Jackson with the ball in his hands in the open field, but Jackson looked especially nasty on this run.

You can check out the touchdown scamper below.

I loved this image captured that shows Jackson doing a makeshift Heisman pose. What are the chances he joins Archie Griffin as the only two-time Heisman winners? Certainly not very likely, but I’m not going to be the one to tell Jackson he is facing long odds. And I’m also positive he cares more about winning the ACC and competing for a national championship than another Heisman. Although both would be pretty sweet.

Funny enough, North Carolina returned the ensuing kickoff for a touchdown so they had to give the ball right back to Mr. Heisman who is threatening to account for more than 500 yards of offense today.

But credit the Tar Heels for playing good football because they’re hanging tough and only trail 27-21 with plenty of time left to pull off the upset.
