Report: Florida State vs. Miami to be moved to Oct. 7

With Hurricane Irma hitting the state of Florida hard, the Florida State vs. Miami Week 3 game is expected to be moved

With Hurricane Irma terrorizing the state of Florida now, there were a few games on the Week 2 college football slate that were forced to cancel, and for good reason. However, with the damage expected to be crippling, Week 3 college football games will also take a hit, and one of the games on the schedule for next week is the annual rivalry showdown between Florida State and Miami.

For the past week, the word has been that the Florida State-Miami game for this season would be moved to some time in October and it looks like that will be the case. According to Tallahassee Democrat, the game is expected to be moved to Oct. 7, and the official announcement about the move could come down as early as Sunday.

UPDATE: The ACC has announced that the game will be on the move to Oct. 7.

All things considered, this is really for the best. Hurricane Irma is a vicious storm that is damaging the state of Florida, so right now, any sport scheduled to take place has to be put on the back burner.

Both Florida State and Miami had Week 2 games scheduled that were cancelled because of the storm. The Seminoles, coming off a loss to Alabama in Week 1, were to take on Louisiana-Monroe, while the Hurricanes, coming off a Week 1 win over Bethune-Cookman, were to face Arkansas State.

With both programs sharing the open date, everything worked out well here for the ACC schedule. Oftentimes when something like this occurs it becomes difficult to find a new date for the game to be played, but the Seminoles and Hurricanes had a perfect scenario here for everything that’s going on.
