Lazio face AC Milan at the Stadio Olimpico on Sunday, Sept. 10. Here’s all the info you need to watch.

Lazio host AC Milan, the team that by all accounts did best during this summer’s transfer window, on Sunday at the Stadio Olimpico. AC Milan, currently in first place with six points, enters matchday 3 having to play their toughest opponent to date after sweeping aside Crotone and Cagliari.

AC Milan are hoping to make a run at the Scudetto this season following a string of disappointing years. After signing several key players during the summer following the club’s acquisition by a group of Chinese investors, coach Vincenzo Montella has retooled his lineup and will likely use a 4-3-3. Central defenders Leonardo Bonucci and Mateo Musacchio have the great ability to distribute from very deep in the back, forcing opponents to scramble. The team could, however, be without right back Andrea Conti, who was forced off the field during the Italy-Israel match with a sprained ankle. In goal, Gianluigi Donnarumma’s steady hands give AC Milan that assurance in the back should the defense have a meltdown.

AC Milan’s ability to move the ball quickly up the field (thanks to their fluid passing and suffocating possession game) will force Lazio to have to foul to break plays. This could very well make the match a chippy affair from the opening whistle. With tensions running high, this game is poised to become both very entertaining as well as controversial.

A key player for AC Milan will be Patrick Cutrone. Just 19 and a product of the Rossoneri’s youth academy, Cutrone had a strong preseason and has continued to be key once the team started playing games that counted. Cutrone, who has two goals and one assist so far this season, could very well end up being one of Italy’s most talented center forwards the country has produced in a while.

As for Lazio, the team remains without midfielder Felipe Anderson, who may not return to the lineup until mid-October as he struggles with tendinopathy. The Brazilian, who made 36 league appearances last season, scored four goals and added nine assists. Tedinopathy, characterized by pain in a tendon, to his left adductor has relegated Anderson to the sidelines so far this season.

Lazio still have the services of striker Ciro Immobile who is healthy and riding high after his lone goal this past Tuesday helped Italy defeat Israel 1-0 in World Cup qualifying. Immobile, who scored two goals against Juventus last month in Lazio’s 3-2 win en route to winning the Italian Super Cup, has an ability to exploit spaces and will very likely give the AC Milan’s defense and Donnarumma headaches. Immobile has scored one goal this season.

The Rome-based club, which has four points from two games, also picked up an important player in Nani as the transfer market came to a close. The Portugal and former Manchester United winger joins Lazio on a season-long loan from Valencia. Nani may be up in age (he turns 30 in November), but his speed, ball control and ability to create scoring chances. He, too, could prove a handful for AC Milan should Lazio coach Simone Inzaghi choose to play him after training with the team for the first time this week.
