Randy Moss will go into the Minnesota Vikings Ring of Honor on Monday night, and two of the team’s current wide receivers will wear cleats to honor him.

At halftime on Monday night, as part of the pomp and circumstance surrounding the season opener against the New Orleans Saints at U.S. Bank Stadium, Randy Moss will go into the Minnesota Vikings’ Ring of Honor and officially join the ranks of the all-time greats in franchise history.

Arguably the best wide receiver in Vikings’ history, and surely the most influential upon his arrival as a ballyhooed and highly productive rookie in 1998, Moss will be a first-time candidate for the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 2018. He’ll have a bust in Canton someday for sure, but wide receivers are rarely inducted in their first year of eligibility and Moss will probably have to wait a bit before getting a gold jacket.

The current top two wide receivers for the Vikings, Stefon Diggs and Adam Thielen, are of the age (23 and 27 respectively) where they probably grew up idolizing Moss. Thielen has the added layer of being a Minnesota native, but both guys are paying tribute to Moss with their cleat choice for Monday night’s game. Check them out, with Diggs’ on the left and Thielen’s on the right.

Not to be out-done, Moss will be wearing his own custom shoes for the ceremony Monday night.

Moss’ shoes are decidedly not too flashy, surprisingly so, beyond the Superman logo. A flashier color scheme like Diggs’ seems to fit Moss’ personality too, but it looks like Moss has his surname in large lettering across the toe. We’ll probably get a closer look before the game, when Moss’ Monday Night Countdown colleagues surely ask to see the shoes he’s wearing for the halftime ceremony or he’s standing on the field during pregame and may be wearing them.
