Here’s how much the brand new iPhone 8 will cost you if you want to upgrade right away.

The changing of the leaves might be the traditional way to track the changing of the seasons from summer to fall, but Apple’s annual iPhone showcase — officially called the Apple Special Event — has become just as good. This year, the event christened the Steve Jobs Theater for a presentation highlighted by the unveiling of the iPhone 8.

Both the iPhone 8 and iPhone 8 plus were shown off to the anxiously waiting world, packed with improvements in the display and speakers and sporting the new A11 Bionic chip. Apple also claims they have the most durable glass ever used in a smartphone, important for those of us who are bound to drop them at some point.

The new phones come in silver, space gray and gold finishes and have improved camera technology as well. Apple showed off their AR capabilities and also touted wireless charging.

But of course, the main thing most people want to know is how much the new devices will cost. The iPhone 8 will start at $699 for the 64GB model; it will also come in a 256GB model. The iPhone 8 Plus will have the same two memory options, but will start at $799.

The iPhone 8 and iPhone 8 Plus will be available for pre-order on Sept. 15 and be in the hands of consumers on Sept. 22. Apple used the very end of its Special Event to unveil the iPhone X, which will cost even more, so the 8 is likely to be the device adopted by the highest number of consumers, but we’ll find out over the next few months.
