The Chargers are trying to have a warm welcome to their new Los Angeles home by giving season ticket holders free jerseys.

This season will mark the Chargers first in Los Angeles, their new home. Unfortunately for them, their permanent home will not be ready until 2020. For now they will play in the 27,000-seat StubHub Center in Carson, California.

Darren Rovell tweeted that one way the Chargers are appealing to their new L.A. fans is by sending free jerseys for every season ticket purchased.

San Diego was sad to see the Chargers go, and fought for their team. Unfortunately for them, the team owners had other plans. The move to Los Angeles was announced last year and executed this off-season. The initial reaction, by L.A. natives, the NFL and the rest of the internet has not been very welcoming.

The team’s new home did not meet the NFL’s 50,000 seat minimum but will host home games for the next three seasons. The team will share the stadium with the MLS’s L.A. Galaxy. Upon completion, the Los Angeles Stadium will host both the L.A. Chargers and Rams. The stadium will be the second to host two NFL teams. The other being MetLife Stadium in New Jersey; the home of the Giants and Jets.

Los Angeles enters their new market with a new head coach. Anthony Lynn was hired this off season to replace Mike McCoy. Other than that, the team will rely on health to improve from last year’s record. The biggest additions came via the draft and return from injuries, especially star wide receiver Keenan Allen.

The Chargers first season in L.A. did not get off to a good start, losing a nail biter to the Denver Broncos on the road. They will play their first regular season game in the StubHub Center in week two against the Miami Dolphins.
