Josh Allen

Quarterback, Wyoming

It was the worst case scenario for the Arizona Cardinals in Week 1, as they lost not only the game, but their best player. In their drubbing at the hands of the Detroit Lions, the Cardinals lost star running back David Johnson, would could be out three months with a wrist injury. They are going to have to piecemeal the running back group for the time being, which could hinder their chance of making it to the playoffs this season.

Quarterback Carson Palmer came back for the 2017 season for another shot at a Super Bowl, so losing Johnson has to be devastating for the veteran signal-caller. With their first round pick in the 2018 NFL Draft, the Cardinals have to look for their future at the position, and Josh Allen would be a nice fit. Allen has struggled a bit against better competition in college, but he has all the skills to be a legitimate starter at the next level.

For Allen, his play has caused him to fall a bit in our mock, but he will certainly be a first round pick next April. The Cardinals have to start planning for life without Palmer, and I do not believe that Blaine Gabbert or Drew Stanton are the answer. In Allen, they could have a legitimate quarterback prospect, who could sit behind either Gabbert or Stanton for a year until he is ready to take over the reins in the desert.
