Anyone even remotely interested in boxing wants to watch Canelo vs. GGG on Saturday, Sept. 16 from Las Vegas, but is the fight on free TV?

The time has finally come for Canelo vs. GGG to grace boxing fans with almost inevitable greatness in the ring. Canelo Alvarez and Gennady Golovkin are two of the biggest stars in the sport. But even more than just their star-power, this is a fight that will affect both the future and history of boxing. And it’s all ready to transpire on Saturday, Sept. 16 from T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, NV.

With a win over GGG, Alvarez could cement himself as the unquestioned future of the sport. He’s already in the conversation, to be sure. But at 27 years old, he’s yet to win the massive marquee matchup that solidifies that status. What’s even more incredible given his youth is that a win would be the 50th of his career as he enters at 49-1-1.

Of course, beating Golovkin isn’t going to be an easy task. The 35-year old legend from Kazakhstan comes into the fight at 37-0-0 and having never even been knocked down in a fight to this point. This is also a fighter who is one of the most spectacular knockout kings in history, with only four of his wins not coming by way of KO.

Everyone wants to see this fight — there’s no question about that. However, there’s a good chance that many don’t want to pay for the pay-per-view price. In that light, the question becomes if Canelo vs. GGG will be available on free television.

Unfortunately, we don’t live in a world where that’s the case. The fight will air exclusively on HBO PPV in the United State and through services like BoxNation abroad. It may air later on HBO, but certainly will not live on Saturday.

Even if this fight isn’t going to be on free TV, you’re still going to want to watch it. It’s less expensive than the Mayweather-McGregor fight, but should be far better. Believe in the fact that, if you pay for it, Canelo vs. GGG will be worth the money.
