There’s no doubt that Canelo vs. GGG is a money fight, but how much money with the knockout artist Gennady Golovkin make for the bout?

What Gennady Golovkin has done throughout his career is nothing short of marvelous. The boxing world has rarely seen someone who has been as dominant as the Kazakhstan-born fighter. On Saturday, Sept. 16 at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, NV however, GGG will be up against his greatest test yet as he squares up with Canelo Alvarez.

That’s not to say that Golovkin has fought a bunch of nobodies prior to Canelo vs. GGG. Really, it’s just a testament to how good Alvarez is. The 27-year old Mexican was pegged as a star at an exceptionally young age and has lived up to it, getting better with each passing year and now potentially entering his prime.

However, GGG has just been beastly throughout his career. He enters Saturday’s fight with a clean 37-0-0 record, which is obviously impressive in its own right. Even more awe-striking, though, is the knockout rate he boasts. Golovkin has knocked out 33 of his 37 opponents, which is absolutely remarkable. In fact, he had 23-straight KOs from 2008 until earlier in 2017.

Both of these fighters are stars and will be paid as such for Saturday’s massive fight. With that being said, fans are always curious about just how much fighters make. Thus, the question has to be asked of how much money GGG stands to make for fight vs. Canelo.

At minimum, Golovkin is set to bring in $15 million, according to The TelegraphHaving said that, he should at least double that once pay-per-view buys are factored in. If the fight sells as expected, he could stand to make approximately $33 million, which is less than Alvarez, but still quite a chunk of change.

Many would argue that Golovkin is the better fighter of the two, so it might seem wrong that Canelo stands to make more money. However, Alvarez is the name that sells better than GGG for whatever reason. And even still, the 35-year old is still set to become a very rich man after this monstrous fight.
