The Oklahoma State offense continued to dominate Pittsburgh, with two more touchdown passes in the first quarter.

Oklahoma State came into Saturday’s game at 2-0 and the No. 9 team in the nation. Pittsburgh would be their opponent, a team that lost to Penn State in Week 2.

The unquestioned star of the Cowboys is quarterback Mason Rudolph. He will be a Heisman Trophy candidate by the end of the season, if not already, as he leads this high-powered offense for the third straight year.

Well, Rudolph displayed more passing excellence against Pitt. He threw a 54-yard touchdown to wide receiver Dillon Stoner, who broke away from a defender to reach the end zone. This gave Oklahoma State a quick 14-0 lead.

Then came this ridiculous play from Rudolph. He found a way to extend a play, getting around rushers and finding an open receiver for another touchdown. It pushed the lead to 21-0.

This only came midway through the first quarter, too, putting the Cowboys on a ridiculous pace for this game. Of course, the scoring will slow down, but they’re on pace for the century mark. They won’t top 100 points, but between 50-60 sounds reasonable, especially with how often head coach Mike Gundy had Rudolph air it out in the opening minutes.

Games like this show how difficult of an opponent the Pokes will be in the 2017 season. They’re one of the Big 12’s top teams and should be in the hunt for the College Football Playoff, barring a catastrophe in conference play or an injury to Rudolph. That may hinge on the eventual Bedlam game against Oklahoma.
