2. Chicago Bears

Current Quarterback: Mike Glennon (31/45, 301 yds, 1 TD/2 INT)

The last thing an NFL team wants is a quarterback who puts together a deceitful stat line. Mike Glennon turned in one of the best deceitful stat lines when it comes to people who point to box scores as reasons why Colin Kaepernick doesn’t need to be on their team.

Glennon threw for over 300 yards and completed almost 70 percent of his passes. Bears fans might point to that — or clipboard attendant Mitchell Trubisky — as reasons why Kaepernick isn’t needed. However, if a garbage time touchdown hadn’t been scored, Chicago would have been shutout in Tampa Bay.

Chicago is devoid of offensive weapons outside of Tarik Cohen. The receivers can’t catch and Glennon is as prone to mistakes as Kaepernick is. The difference is, Kaepernick adds an element to the offense that could benefit Cohen and Jordan Howard in not tipping the Bears hand to the defense to early. Glennon has looked atrocious pretty much since his first preseason snap, and Bears fans have seen enough. It’s too early to turn to Trubisky and throw him to the fire, as he showed potential that should be fostered rather than tested.

That leaves the options: Glennon and what you’ve already seen, or Kaepernick and maybe something different. There’s literally nothing to lose in Chicago testing out Kaepernick. It also wouldn’t hurt to have an activist like Kaepernick working with communities in Chicago — an underrated aspect to signing him.
