The Seahawks were the heavy favorites going into their game against the 49ers, but they didn’t play like it on Sunday. Check out the highlights from this game.

The Seattle Seahawks were looking to bounce back in a big way from their loss to the Green Bay Packers in Week 1, and Week 2 looked like the perfect way to do it as they traveled home to play the San Francisco 49ers in their own stadium. However, they didn’t live up to the expectations.

The Seahawks were heavily favored for the game, and looked like they’d roll right through the 49ers. Unfortunately for them, the offense couldn’t find the end zone until late in the game, and the 49ers made things close throughout in a 12-9 win for the Seahawks.

The two teams put on a pretty lackluster game overall, with just one touchdown from both teams combined when Russell Wilson threw what turned out to be the game-winner to Paul Richardson late in the game.

This game was so lacking in highlights that the NFL’s Twitter account only posted two for you to enjoy. Either way, here they are in all of their glory for you to check out:

Three Stars

1. Russell Wilson

It’s tough picking out stars in a game where nothing really happened, but Wilson was at least trying to make things happen both in the air and on the ground with his feet as he led his team to victory. His touchdown pass to Richardson proved to be the difference, but he’ll need to step up a lot bigger in the next few weeks if the Seahawks have any plans to make any noise in the NFC throughout this season.

2. K.J. Wright

This pick is more representative of the entire defense, but Wright was all over the field, making tackles and putting pressure on everyone throughout. It was such a close game, decided by just three points, so it makes sense that the defense would be a real factor in the end. A lot of names could be thrown here, but Wright was a real leader on Sunday afternoon.

3. Paul Richardson

It was a rough time even picking three stars for this game that didn’t have much going on as far as spectacular plays or players were concerned. However, you have to show some love for the guy that got the game-winning touchdown, and that was Richardson. It was what truly decided the game in the end, and it could have some serious divisional implications when the end of the year comes.

Odds

The Seahawks were favored -15, according to SportsBook Review, and their performance offensively definitely didn’t match how everyone figured they’d perform against a weak 49ers lineup.

Next Week

The Seahawks will look to continue their momentum as they travel to play the Tennessee Titans in a tough road game in Week 3, while the 49ers will look for their first win of the year on Thursday night against the Los Angeles Rams at home.
