The NFL was crazy on Sunday, but which teams helped themselves out the most? We run down the top five wins of the day.

5. Washington Redskins

The Washington Redskins desperately needed to get a win on Sunday against the Los Angeles Rams and old friend Sean McVay. Despite being an underdog, they did exactly that with a strong 27-20 win at the Los Angeles Coliseum.

Kirk Cousins was good enough to get the job done, throwing for 179 yards and a touchdown. Cousins had plenty of help in this one, with the defense causing Jared Goff to throw a late, game-ending interception. All told, Washington only allowed 332 yards. The Redskins also dominated in terms of time of possession, churning up more than 36 minutes of control.

Washington wasn’t perfect, but it was enough to even its record at 1-1 before playing a brutal stretch. The next two weeks, the Redskins come home to take on the Oakland Raiders on Sunday Night Football before traveling to pay the Kansas City Chiefs on Monday night.

The Redskins still have a long journey ahead of them in the ultra-competitive NFC East, but this was a good first start. Now, Washington has to play a tough pair of AFC West teams, starting with a prolific Oakland offense.
