WWE announced Monday that Starrcade, the preeminent event for the defunct WCW, is returning this November. The event will take place in Greensboro, North Carolina on Saturday, November 25 and will be a SmackDown! Live event.

For years, Starrcade served as the top event for World Championship Wrestling. WCW’s “WrestleMania” was the most prominent event while WCW functioned through the ’80s, ’90s and early 2000s. Since its final edition in 2000, the event has been dormant. But, fear no longer. Starrcade is back! WWE announced Monday that the event is returning later this fall.

The article entails that Starrcade will serve as a SmackDown Live event on Saturday, November 25. The event will take place at the famous Greensboro Coliseum in Greensboro, North Carolina. The venue hosted the first four editions of Starrcade from 1983-1986. So, there is a lot of historical significance here in choosing the Greensboro Coliseum as the site for Starrcade’s return.

The match card for the 2017 edition of Starrcade (which is subject to change) looks stacked. Two Steel Cage matches will take place at the event for two of SDL’s titles. Jinder Mahal, the current WWE Champion, will battle Shinsuke Nakamura. And, Natalya will defend the SDL Women’s Championship against Charlotte Flair.

The choice of Charlotte to fight inside a steel cage also has historical significance. In the very first Starrcade in 1983, Charlotte’s father Ric took on Harley Race inside a cage with the NWA World Heavyweight Championship on the line. 34 years later, Charlotte will be able to have the same opportunity inside a cage at the Greensboro Coliseum too.

WWE.com’s article also mentions some very special guests that are slated to attend. Advertised to attend are The Hardy Boyz. That crowd will surely show them adoration, with it taking place in their home state. Two sets of “Starrcade Legends” will also be in attendance. The Rock ‘n’ Roll Express and Ricky “The Dragon” Steamboat both will be in Greensboro on November 25.

Needless to say, WWE is bringing out the big guns for this. While it’s currently just a live event on a Saturday, six days after Survivor Series, it wouldn’t surprise many if this wound up being a WWE Network event. Especially with how heavy the hype is going on right now. Two things are in mind if that’s indeed the case: 1, WWE fans will be in for a treat. And 2, will more former WCW events return as well?
