At the Tokyo Game Show, Sony showed off a new trailer for the Shadow of the Colossus remake. The original is already great, but this looks phenomenal in HD.

Arguably one of the greatest games of all time is Shadow of the Colossus. Releasing back in 2005 on the PlayStation 2, it became an instant classic and has passed the test of time. The gameplay is unique but also challenging, and the game’s setting is extremely atmospheric. It’s been a while since a game like this has graced consoles everywhere. Although we won’t be getting a sequel, the game will be getting remastered for the PlayStation 4, which is still fantastic. The last time we saw a gameplay clip was at E3 2017 in June. Now, we have a new trailer courtesy of the Tokyo Game Show.

As soon as the trailer starts, the graphical enhancements are immediately apparent. This game was already a visual spectacle back when it released 12 years ago. Seeing it remade in HD for the current generation of consoles is incredible. What really stands out are the Colossi, which are the mysteriously gigantic figures we’ll have to face off against.

As fantastic as this game is, it isn’t one for everybody. If you’ve never played this game and take a look at the Colossi, you’ll think you’re prepping for some action-heavy sequences. Although in some cases, that may be the case, it’s much more methodical overall than you might think. The way you take out these monstrous structures is more like a puzzle rather than mashing buttons away.

Like we mentioned already, it may turn off some people. Shadow of the Colossus is more of an experience, which is why it’s so memorable for those who have played it.

We can’t wait to revisit it on the PS4 in 2018.
