Maurice Hurst

Defensive Tackle, Michigan

The Minnesota Vikings looked so good in their opening week win against the New Orleans Saints, as their defense held Drew Brees and company in check. In Week 2, they did not have starting quarterback Sam Bradford, who is once again dealing with his balky left knee. If he cannot go, this team is going to struggle, and the team looked like a completely different collection of players without him in Week 2.

One thing is for certain in Minnesota, and that is that they have one of the best defenses in the league. Still, you can never have too many good defensive lineman, and Maurice Hurst from Michigan is just that. He is the kind of player who can stop the run, and get in the quarterbacks face in the passing game, making him perfectly suited for the NFL game.

Michigan has had to turn over nearly their entire roster this season, but Hurst has remained a constant. He is a big reason why they are still a top-10 ranked team, as his combination of size and speed is difficult  to deal with in the Big Ten. Head coach Mike Zimmer is a defensive guru, and would love to get his hands on a player of Hurst’s caliber if he is available to them in the middle of the first round.
