The college football recruiting landscape is forever changing and this is what happened in Week 3.

Another week of college football action is in the books. This is the time of the year when 2018 prospects are taking visits and most of them are officials. Each recruit gets five official visits and the schools on the receiving end of those know they’re on a narrowed list.

While news about top recruits taking trips to respective schools is interesting, commitment news is even better. This past week, some of the nation’s top programs landed commitments from elite targets. Let’s take a look at the Week 4 recruiting roundup.

Note: Latest commitments, rankings and scheduled visits come from 247Sports.

Ohio State lands No. 1 JUCO recruit

Just last week, Mississippi State landed the nation’s top junior college, or JUCO, recruit, according to the composite rankings. However, 247Sports has its own ranking system and Ohio State landed the No. 1 ranked player there by the name of Antwuan Jackson Jr.

The former Auburn commit and top-100 recruit enrolled at Blinn Community College down in Mississippi for the 2016 season and will be a major contributor for the Buckeyes next season. The 6-foot-2, 305-pound defensive tackle is also a former Army All-American.

TCU adds speedy receiver

The Horned Frogs have had their fair share of solid receivers over the years, most notably Josh Doctson, but could Bryson Jackson be the next name to watch in Fort Worth? The 6-foot, 182-pound receiver is from Humble, Texas, and had about two dozens offers from top programs before choosing TCU. He has the elusiveness to be a home run threat for Gary Patterson’s team. He’s also ranked the No. 343 overall recruit in the 2018 class.

Three-star versatile athlete picks Alabama

Alabama landed, wait for it, a three-star recruit last week. Yes, the mighty Crimson Tide picked up a three-star instead of a five-star blue-chipper. Nick Saban is one of the best recruiters out there, so maybe Vernon Jackson is a diamond in the rough.

The athlete recruit stands 6-foot-3 and weighs 230 pounds. However, he’s one of the most interesting players in the class as he’s listed as a defensive end and, get this, a dual-threat quarterback. Yeah, try tackling a 230-pound former defensive end rolling out of the pocket. Jackson is the No. 386 overall recruit in the class from Boling, Texas.

Georgia locks down local prospect

Shortly after his former mentor picked up a 230-pound dual-threat quarterback prospect, Kirby Smart and Georgia locked down a local defensive tackle recruit. Three-star tackle Tramel Walthour from nearby Hinesville, Ga., picked the Bulldogs over about a dozen other programs, including a slew of SEC schools. The 6-foot-4, 280-pound recruit is ranked No. 619 in the country.
