It’s always fun when the New York Giants and the Philadelphia Eagles renew acquaintances. For Big Blue, it’s been a less than enjoyable start to a season filled with high expectations. When it comes to Doug Pederson’s club, they look like a much-improved squad.

So are Eli Manning and company primed to get their first win of 2017?

Dating back to 2014, the Eagles are 5-1 in their last six meeting with the Giants. Last season, the clubs split their two-game set for the first time since 2013. New York came away with a 28-23 triumph at MetLife Stadium (Week 7), while Philadelphia bounced back in late December with a 24-19 Thursday night home victory (Week 16).

The Birds are coming off a tough loss to the Kansas City Chiefs at Arrowhead Stadium. But Pederson’s team is still a five-point favorite in this longtime NFC East rivalry (courtesy of SportsBook Review). Of course, this makes sense since that a season ago, the Eagles did hand New York a five-point setback in Philly last December.

This is a bad matchup if you are the struggling New York Giants. Although far from a perfect defensive unit, it’s the Philadelphia Eagles’ pass rush that has produced eight sacks in two games. Look for Eagles’ coordinator Jim Schwartz to bring the heat early and often. Wentz will be under duress as well, but look for New York’s offensive trouble to continue in the City of Brotherly Love.

Pick: Eagles 19, Giants 17
