While they began the campaign with losses against Tottenham and Huddersfield, they have come back with three victories. Newcastle dominated West Ham at home in a 3-0 win. They outlasted Swansea in Wales to win 1-0 and held out against Stoke at home in a 2-1 victory. These results have put Newcastle in fourth place in the Premier League, behind just Manchester City, Manchester United and Chelsea. This is elite company for a club that was promoted from the Championship a season ago.

They hope to continue this good form against an underwhelming Brighton side. Newcastle have the pieces to put together a strong season in 2017-18. It is worth remembering they finished fifth in the Premier League in 2011-2012. A win for Newcastle against Brighton would surely lift confidence even further as they face tougher opponents in weeks to come.
