After a week with a couple of big upsets and many more close calls, a look at the latest college football rankings in the Week 5 AP Poll.

The 2017 college football season is getting into the heart of the season, which means fans should be prepared. It’s the time for the big upsets in conference play to start taking place. Meanwhile, it’s time for the real contenders to start separating themselves. Subsequently, we’re going to see big shifts in the weekly college football rankings and AP Poll.

This past weekend was certainly a good palette cleanser for what’s most definitely to come. Week 4 of the season kicked off Saturday with the then 12th-ranked Florida State Seminoles taking on NC State, coming off of a two-week hiatus. However, without Deondre Francois, the Noles didn’t have enough firepower and were defeated, dropping to 0-2 on the season.

Meanwhile, the Oklahoma State Cowboys were a team gaining a lot of buzz behind Mason Rudolph and their high-octane offense. They faced their first real test on Saturday, though, and couldn’t make the grade as the TCU Horned Frogs stifled them and made their own claim as a top-10 team in college football.

For fans that though Vanderbilt might give Alabama a scare, you were sorely disappointed as the Crimson Tide proved to be a cut above with a 59-0 victory. The Georgia Bulldogs made a similar statement, knocking Mississippi State down a peg with a dominant win.

Michigan, Penn State, Clemson and Oklahoma weren’t nearly as dominant as the aforementioned schools. All highly ranked, they all had to fight against unranked competition to pull out the win. Alas, they all remained perfect.

With all of those results and plenty more to consider, let’s take a look at the latest college football rankings with the Week 5 AP Poll:
