Darren Sproles career could come to a horrible ending with two injuries that have knocked him out for the rest of the season.

While the team and city of Philadelphia were celebrating after the victory on Sunday, Darren Sproles was dealing with what they thought was just a broken arm, turns out to be much worse for the starting running back.

Now a broken arm would have sidelined Sproles for a lengthy time, but he could have returned this season. A torn ACL though is a season-ender and with that his short 2017 campaign will come to a close. Along with his season being over with, this could possibly be the end of his career.

Coming back from a broken arm isn’t a problem for an NFL player at any age, but a torn ACL is tougher. At age 30, running backs usually slow down and aren’t the same as they once were. Some are able to still stay in the league and be valuable as a backup, but others can’t find their footing and are out the door.

Now with Darren Sproles being 34 and coming back from an ACL tear, it just makes it even harder for him to play, retiring could be a real possibility for the running back.

If this is the end of his career, Sproles had a nice run in the league, totaling 3,366 rushing yards for 22 touchdowns, 532 catches for 4,656 yards and 30 touchdowns, along with three pro bowl appearances.

With Sproles now out, LeGarrette Blount, Wendell Smallwood, and rookie Corey Clement will share time in the backfield, with Blount having the most experience out of the three.
