Jeff Hardy will be missing a significant amount of time from a WWE ring, as he indeed does need to undergo shoulder surgery.

The WWE RAW tag team division was dealt another pretty big blow on Monday, just hours before the post-No Mercy show is set to go on the air. WWE confirmed on Monday that Jeff Hardy did suffer a rotator cuff injury during the six-pack challenge last week, and this is an injury that will require him to undergo surgery. According to the report, Hardy is scheduled to undergo the procedure next Tuesday.

Obviously disappointed, Hardy provided some commentary on the whole ordeal.

“It’s depressing,” Hardy told WWE.com. “More than any time in a career, it’s those times that make you go, ‘Wow, I love professional wrestling.’ It sucks that I can’t be involved in [a] match or can’t get in there and do what I normally do because I’m injured, but I just have to get over that, stop worrying about it and look forward and push myself to get repaired and healed and come back better than ever with a brand-new shoulder.”

Whether or not WWE had big plans for Matt and Jeff going forward, it’s still a hit to the division when these two veterans — and one of the greatest WWE tag teams of all time — aren’t able to compete.

Despite not being able to compete, though, they might not be off television completely. Also in the article, Jeff alluded to the notion that he might stay on the RAW air with his brother in some form or fashion. He talked about being inspired to think of what he could do while he recovers from the injury, which should have the wheels in everyone’s head turning with excitement.

As we’ve seen time and time again, there’s really no tying the Hardys down when they want to come up with something creative. It’ll be terrible not being able to see Jeff wrestle, but at the same time, it could be very interesting to see what the brothers could cook up while the younger brother is on the shelf.

Either way, best wishes to Jeff Hardy for a speedy recovery from this unfortunate injury.
