We’re so close to the return of real professional basketball, but while you wait out these last few days, meet Bini, a slam-dunking bunny.

Can you dunk? Probably not. It’s okay. Most people who are not professional athletes can’t. Training and then failing to dunk is a whole subgenre of personal essay on this here internet. So don’t feel bad. In any case, here’s Bini, a Los Angeles-based bunny rabbit, who, unlike you, can dunk.

In fact, Bini the bunny can dunk more times in a minute (seven times!) than any other rabbit. According to Bini’s owner Shai Asor, it was easy for Bini to become a slam-dunk all-star because Bini likes to play basketball every night before he goes to sleep. Apparently, Bini was always a natural ball-handler and once Shai showed him a hoop, that was it. A dunk champion was born.

Bini can do lots of tricks, but dunking is his favorite, which I have to imagine is a very relatable stance amongst basketball players, both in the NBA and the bunny leagues of L.A.

Bini was recently honored by Guinness World Records Amazing Animals magazine for Most Slam Dunks in One Minute by a Rabbit, which seems incredibly niche but having never won an award for any kind of dunking in any time frame in any category, taxonomic or otherwise, who am I to judge.

Meanwhile, over in the NBA, preseason fervor is in full swing with media days across the league. Unsurprisingly, the players and coaches were as political as they were delightful.

Preseason games start Saturday, Sept. 29 and the regular season begins Oct. 17 with various All-Stars suiting up in new colors. Kyrie Irving is a Celtic. Isaiah Thomas, a Cavalier. Carmelo Anthony and Paul George are on the Thunder.

Bini, however, remains without a team.
