Hot Seat Watch, Week 5: 5 coaches who need to win
Week 5 of the College Football season has arrived and the axe will start swinging on many tenures soon. These five coaches on the hot seat need a win.
The stretch run of the college football season is underway. Conference games are being played and teams are quickly establishing whether or not they’re going to have a winning or losing season. Hot seat season is well underway as well.
For some coaches, they’re all but toast and could soon be packing up as their program goes in a different direction. For others, they’ve won just enough to turn the heat down or won a big enough game to have the program thinking otherwise.
Still, no one is completely safe from the hot seat and that’s why it’s imperative they keep winning. This week features several pivotal battles for these coaches and these particular five need a win more than the rest.
5. Todd Graham
The biggest winner of last week was Todd Graham. His team pulled out a huge win over Oregon and got Graham another win against a ranked opponent. For all of his faults, Graham has had some big wins during his tenure.
With that win, the Sun Devils evened their record and are undefeated in conference play. They still have an incredibly tough stretch that is going to make or break Graham’s chance at keeping his job going forward.
If his team brings the defensive effort that they brought last week, Graham is going to be in pretty good shape as his seat cools down. They got a big road test this week when they take on the Stanford Cardinal.
