One game happening on Saturday in The American will be between the Houston Cougars (2-1) and the Temple Owls (2-2). Houston enters play at 2-1 on the year. This will be the Cougars’ game in AAC play this season. They had their first game of the season against the UTSA Roadrunners in San Antonio canceled due to Hurricane Harvey in the Gulf Coast.
Houston won on the road against the Arizona Wildcats and at home versus the Rice Owls. However, the Cougars would suffer their first loss of the season versus the Texas Tech Red Raiders in Week 4.
Temple enters play at 2-2 (0-1) on the year. The Owls lost their first game to rival Notre Dame in South Bend. They would rattle off a pair of wins over the crosstown rival Villanova Wildcats and the UMass Minutemen. In the Owls’ first conference game, they could loss on the road to the ranked South Florida Bulls in Tampa in Week 4.

It could be interesting regardless. Keep in mind that the Owls’ two losses are to two teams that are currently ranked. Notre Dame is No. 22 in the country, while South Florida is all the way up at No. 18, edging out the No. 19 San Diego State Aztecs as the best Group of 5 team in the country.
