Vikings running back Dalvin Cook has suffered what looks like a major knee injury, so here are five options for his fantasy football owners to try to replace him.

Cook has been a revelation for the Minnesota Vikings and his fantasy football owners through three weeks, with 288 rushing yards and a touchdown along with 10 receptions. If not for Kareem Hunt, Cook would be getting a lot more attention among rookie running backs early this season.

Cook was on his way to another nice game on Sunday against the Detroit Lions, with 13 carries for 66 yards and a touchdown as well as one catch for eight yards. But he went down on his final carry with what looks like a substantial left knee injury, and he was quickly ruled out for the rest of the game.

It’s mostly speculation at this point, probably pending an MRI on Monday, but Cook may have suffered a season-ending torn ACL. So the Vikings and his fantasy owners will now be left to find a way to replace Cook, as impossible as that will be after his nice start.

But that said, here are five options to replace Cook on a fantasy football roster.

5. Jerick McKinnon, Minnesota Vikings

To this point in the season, McKinnon has seen the most action of any Vikings’ running back besides Cook. That translated to 16 touches in the first three games, even split between carries and catches and it’s worth noting McKinnon had 43 receptions last season.

McKinnon was pressed into a significant role by Adrian Peterson’s absence during his 2014 rookie season, and he averaged 4.8 yards per carry with 27 receptions in 11 games played. So he can handle a bigger workload, or at least be part of an equal workload split, with some extra value in PPR leagues.
