Alabama’s Da’Shawn Hand carted off with knee injury vs. Ole Miss
By John Buhler
The Alabama Crimson Tide might be beating the tar out of SEC West rival Ole Miss Rebels, but Alabama did lose Da’Shawn Hand to a knee injury in this game.
The SEC might have a few really good teams this year, but none are as outstanding as Nick Saban’s Alabama Crimson Tide. This team looks to be on a crash course with the ACC’s Clemson Tigers in a third-straight national championship game.
Alabama is completely obliterating its SEC West rival in the Ole Miss Rebels at home in Tuscaloosa on Saturday night, but it does look like the Crimson Tide saw an injury to one of its key defensive players. Defensive lineman Da’Shawn Hand had to be carted off with an apparent knee injury on Saturday night. It’s one of those injuries you hate to see.
Apparently Hand was cut blocked by Ole Miss. Hand was to be a huge player on this Alabama front-seven this year. He was to be the guy that would make up for Jonathan Allen going pro after his senior season in Tuscaloosa.
It’s a tough loss, but Alabama does a better job of reloading than any other team in the country. That being said, two teams Alabama could play before getting to the College Football Playoff look to be playing great ball right now in the arch rival Auburn Tigers and the Georgia Bulldogs.
Losing a key piece like Hand could help defensive-minded Auburn and Georgia potentially upset the Crimson Tide this season when they do meet. Auburn obviously plays Alabama in the Iron Bowl during Thanksgiving Weekend.

Georgia appears to be the favorite to come out of the SEC East, presumably meeting the Iron Bowl champion in the SEC Championship Game in Atlanta in December. Alabama is still the best team in the SEC, but losing Hand for any lengthy period is awful for the Crimson Tide program.
