Josh Norman injury update: Redskins injures ribs vs. Chiefs, questionable to return

The Washington Redskins may be down one of their best players on defense Monday night as Josh Norman left with a rib injury

The Washington Redskins are looking to move to an impressive 3-1 to start the year on Monday night if they can beat the best team from the AFC West, the Kansas City Chiefs. However, as the first half was coming to a close in this one, they ran into a little setback involving start cornerback Josh Norman.

While making a tackle on Monday night against Chris Conley of the Chiefs, Norman injured his ribs and was forced to exit the game. The team announced the news of the injury while also noting that he’s questionable to return in this one.

The Redskins are off to a pretty nice start this season at 2-1, and that’s mainly because of the defensive effort they’ve put out. Washington ranks No. 1 overall in the NFL in total defense, and third in passing defense. So, needless to say with that third-ranked passing statistic, losing a player the caliber of Norman would be a blow to this team going forward.

While having yet to intercept a pass on the year, Norman has totaled 12 tackles and three passes defended. He’s still a crucial part of this secondary, so all eyes will be on the status of this injury entering the second half and even beyond.

As for the team themselves, the Redskins look like they might be on their way to a 3-1 record, as they took a 10-7 lead over the Chiefs into the half.
