Fantasy football 2017: Top 10 waiver wire Week 5 pickups
8. Aaron Jones
Anytime you get the chance to pick up the potential starting running back for an Aaron Rodgers-led offense from the waiver wire, you have to take advantage. Due to injuries to both Ty Montgomery and Jamaal Williams, Jones is that man.
As Montgomery left last Thursday nights game between the Green Bay Packers and the Chicago Bears with a rib injury, Jamaal Williams was the first back to rotate in with five touches. However, it wasn’t long before he suffered an injury of his own and also left the game with a knee injury. In the absence of these two backs, Jones accumulated 49 yards on 13 carries on and found the end zone for a score. It was an impressive debut by the seventh round rookie back, who hadn’t seen any significant time before the game.
Jones has good speed and even though it’s likely the team will throw the ball a fair number of times next week against the Cowboys, Jones should have every opportunity to add yardage on the ground and score points in this prolific offense. He could be an instant plug and play starter for you and depending on the seriousness of the injuries to the other backs, he could have a massive impact on your leagues.
