Wednesday night’s AL Wild Card game between the Diamondbacks and Rockies will be one of the most intriguing in recent memory.

At the beginning of the season, who would have thought we’d be gearing up for an NL Wild Card game between the Arizona Diamondbacks and Colorado Rockies? Neither team had been a power in the National League for years and both are in the division with the Giants and Dodgers.

Well, the Giants had a major down year, finishing last in the division as well as second-to-last in the entire league, in terms of overall record. The Rockies and Diamondbacks, though, have been trending in the right direction.

The Diamondbacks, which have only been around since 1998, hadn’t made the playoffs since 2011, so this entry into the postseason was more than welcomed. Trading for JD Martinez mid-season turned out to be a great addition to this team — he was red-hot in September.

As for the Rockies, they’re one of baseball’s youngest teams. The Rockies have only existed since 1993 so the playoff appearances are few and far between. In fact, the last time Colorado made the playoffs was 2009 and this is just the fourth appearance in the club’s history.

Here’s how you can watch Tuesday’s NL Wild Card online:
