The Houston Astros took a commanding 2-0 series lead over the Red Sox on Friday inside Minute Maid Park.

It was evident throughout the 2017 MLB regular season that the Houston Astros have maybe the most prolific offense in baseball, and through the first two games of the ALDS against the Boston Red Sox, they’re putting that on full display. Friday the bats were alive once again as the Astros took a 2-0 lead over the Red Sox at Minute Maid Park with an 8-2 beatdown, as the season now moves onto Boston as the Red Sox look to salvage this series.

One day after the Astros offense roughed up Chris Sale, who only lasted five innings in Game 1, Game 2 Boston starter Drew Pomeranz suffered a similar fate, although his outing wasn’t quite as long. Pomeranz was pulled after just two innings after allowing 4 earned runs on 5 hits, with two of those hits heading over the wall. The first home run came off the bat of star shortstop Carlos Correa, which was an absolute moonshot to left field for the first two runs of the game. The second homer for the Astros in the game came in the third inning off the bat of George Springer, a solo shot just over the wall in right field.

While the Houston offense was rolling once again, the performance of starting pitcher Dallas Keuchel in this one can’t go overlooked. Keuchel went 5.2 innings for the Astros in the Game 2 victory, giving up just 3 hits and 1 earned run while striking out 7.

Highlights

Three Stars

Carlos Correa, SS, Astros: The young star got everything headed in the right direction for the Astros on the afternoon with his bomb to left field in the bottom of the first. He further poured salt in the wounds of Boston with a two-run double in the sixth to make the lead 6-1 at the time.

Dallas Keuchel, SP, Astros: Keuchel did everything Houston needed him to do in this one as he shut down the Boston lineup, striking out seven of them in the process.

The entire Astros offense: 16 runs in the first two games. 24 hits. Let’s just go ahead and call the entire unit stars. Is there pitching out there that can stop these guys in a multi-game series?
