This week’s College GameDay marks a special occasion for Lee Corso: it’ll be his 300th game making headgear picks. What’s his overall record?

For college football fans, there’s no better way to kick off a full Saturday worth of football than with College GameDay. The primary reason people tune in is to see the clever signs fans make. But they also want to see which headgear Lee Corso chooses, serving as his de facto pick for the game that the crew traveled to.

Corso has been with ESPN since 1987, but he didn’t start wearing headgear until 1996. The first time he did it, he wore Brutus Buckeye before Ohio State played Penn State. The Buckeyes won, and he’s kept the tradition ever since.

While some may rely on Corso for last-minute betting advice, others just want to see how creative he gets with each different headgear. But it’s proven to be a pretty accurate picking method, as he’s 196-103 all-time.

If you did the math correctly, he’s done headgear picks 299 times, which means this Saturday marks his 300th pick. It’s a special one, too, as the College GameDay crew is traveling to TCU for their game against West Virginia. Incidentally, that game was also Corso’s 250th pick back in 2014. He chose TCU to win, which they did, in a 31-30 thriller.

TCU announced themselves as Big 12 contenders when they knocked off Oklahoma State back in Week 4. That win propelled them up from 16 to no. 8 in the AP Poll. However, West Virginia will come in with an upset on their mind, as Will Grier has their offense humming. In fact, they currently lead the Big 12 in points per game.

Given the high stakes of this matchup, as well as the milestone behind it, there’s added pressure on Corso to get this pick right. But considering he’s become such a beloved part of the morning rotation, we should all hope he gets to make picks for 300 more games.
