Game 4 of the NLDS between the Washington Nationals and Chicago Cubs has officially been postponed due to weather.

There was one game on the MLB Playoffs schedule Tuesday, and it was a big one. The defending World Champion Chicago Cubs were one win away from advancing to the NLCS, that was if they could take care of the Washington Nationals in Game 4 at home. However, we’re going to have to wait a bit longer to see if the champs can advance.

All day on Tuesday, there were questions as to whether or not the game would even be played, as Chicago was experiencing some inclement weather conditions. They delayed the start of the game, but every time they showed the weather on screen and the radar, it wasn’t looking too promising that the game would be played. And in the end, that was the case.

MLB officials announced a short time ago that Game 4 has indeed been delayed, and it will now be played Wednesday at 4:08 p.m. ET.

If you saw the weather in the Chicago area on the broadcast, this announcement really shouldn’t come as all that much of a shock. MLB officials gave it a little bit to see if a miracle could happen, but that wasn’t the case and now we must wait an extra 24 hours to see whether or not the Cubs can advance to the next series, or if the Nationals can stay alive.

How this affects both teams will be interesting. Some may not see it as that big of a deal, but postponements can really throw a wrench into the momentum the Cubs have right now up 2-1. Wednesday, we’ll find out for certain, though, as these two teams resume their NLDS meeting in Chicago.
