After the WWE Hell in a Cell pay-per-view, how could the WrestleMania 34 match card shape up?

WrestleMania 34 is exactly six months away, as it will take place on Apr. 8, 2018 at the Mercedes-Benz Superdome in New Orleans, LA. This event was last held there in 2014, when Daniel Bryan famously won the WWE World Heavyweight Championship.

On Sunday night, the latest WrestleMania checkpoint occurred, as the WWE Hell in a Cell pay-per-view delivered a night of wild matches and shocking finishes. Top superstars were influenced, which could impact the landscape of the WWE for WrestleMania season.

While the WrestleMania 34 card won’t be known for a while, there are multiple directions WWE can take with the matches, however many they choose to create. Let’s look at the latest match card predictions after Hell in a Cell, and how different things are from No Mercy’s projections.

SmackDown Tag Team Championship Match
The Usos (c) vs. The Authors of Pain vs. New Day

The New Day and The Usos will seemingly trade the SmackDown Tag Team Championship for an eternity. They did so, again, at Hell in a Cell, when Jimmy and Jey won and become five-time champions.

New Day vs. The Usos will eventually end. When? Who knows, but they’ll remain the top tag teams on SmackDown Live for a while. However, what if another duo joins them and shakes up Tuesday nights?

The Authors of Pain, since June 2016, have been destructive in NXT. They have annihilated anyone in their path and will do the same on the main roster, whenever that may be.

If it’s before WrestleMania 34, look for Akam and Rezar to enter the title hunt. It will be difficult to keep them away for long, and should lead to some excellent matches with the veterans on SmackDown Live.

Kurt Angle vs. Triple H

This match still stands as a potential option for the WrestleMania 34 card. It features one WWE Hall of Famer (Kurt Angle) and a no-brainer to be inducted (Triple H), in a match that will satisfy those who watched WWE since the late 1990s.

In 2018, however, this match is about a power struggle for Raw. Remember how Stephanie McMahon was the brand’s commissioner? Her name and this role haven’t been said together on WWE programming in what seems like a lifetime (since WrestleMania 33). Does that guarantee her eventual return to cover his glaring plot hole?

Angle and Triple H can fight for power of Raw, a match one year in the making. It might not be the best on the card but it will have the full attention of WWE fans. The Olympic Gold Medalist is going to wrestle sooner than later, right?
