Neville staying with WWE is the best idea in the end
By Joe Burgett
Neville has reportedly asked for his release from WWE but the best course of action may be to stay with the company.
WWE Superstar Neville has been in the newswire a lot this week and it all pertains to a certain rumor that surfaced. The “King of the Cruiserweights” has reportedly asked for his release from WWE. According to Pro Wrestling Sheet, Neville made the request following a pitched storyline where he was supposed to face Enzo Amore for the WWE Cruiserweight Title in a Lumberjack match on WWE RAW. He was going to lose said match. This match idea for Neville allegedly upset him, causing him to walk out on WWE before the show began and subsequently ask for his release.
Whether or not all of this is true has been neither confirmed nor denied, but it’s worth exploring whether leaving WWE is truly in Neville’s best interest at this time.
Should Neville leave WWE?
The quick answer is that he probably should depart for greener pastures. Stars leave WWE and they can go on to bigger and better things. Look at Cody Rhodes and Drew Galloway, for example. They succeeded a bit more following their respective departures. Neville is also a very popular name in the world of pro wrestling, which means companies would flock to him. He’s already more than welcome in New Japan Pro Wrestling, with The Young Bucks quickly offering a spot in Bullet Club.
Aside from working overseas possibly permanently, companies such as Ring of Honor, Impact Wrestling and PWG would probably also make a push for his exceptional services in the ring.
However, none of this truly would help Neville in the end if we’re being honest with ourselves here.
Why leaving is a terrible idea for Neville
Sure, leaving may make sense to many. However, one has to ask themselves what the end game is here. To prove to WWE they were wrong about? The company gave Neville the biggest run of his career where he held onto a title for the better part of a year. He has been utilized far more than ever and he’s probably the best cruiserweight they have. Simply put, they can’t afford to lose him.
New Japan has placed foreigners at the top of the card before but the chances of Neville holding the IWGP Heavyweight Championship are slim. He would be a Junior competitor at best, which is the exact position he has now in WWE. The main difference if he were to take that spot in New Japan is fewer eyeballs would be on him.

On top of this, a place like Impact Wrestling has not proven itself trustworthy enough to put Neville in a better position and Ring of Honor would never offer him the pay he truly deserves. So are we truly expecting Neville would somehow shine more upon leaving WWE, or would it actually be smarter for him to just reconcile the differences he has with the company and stay put?
