We’re getting ready to see the San Francisco 49ers and Washington Redskins square off. Which team will prevail in this contest?

The current rebuilding season for new head coach Kyle Shanahan and the San Francisco 49ers continues with a trip to the east coast and our nation’s capital. And it’s safe to say that the team’s current sideline is pretty familiar with the surroundings at FedEx Field.

Shanahan served as the Washington Redskins offensive coordinator for four seasons under his father. Mike Shanahan led the team to the playoffs in 2012 with NFL Offensive Rookie of the Year Robert Griffin III, along with a few assists from then-backup and fellow rookie Kirk Cousins. Now the latter leads the Redskins against Shanahan and his winless 49ers.

Odds

Line: Redskins (-11)

Over/Under: 46.5

The Redskins return home and are 11-point favorites via the consensus at SportsBook Review. The team has covered the spread in its wins over the Los Angeles Rams and Oakland Raiders. On the other hand, Washington failed to cover in their home setback to the Philadelphia Eagles in Week 1 and that Monday night loss at Kansas City in Week 4.

The San Francisco 49ers have the makings of a young and impressive defensive unit. All told, the front four is loaded with first-round draft choices and there’s a lot of talent throughout this group. However, it all hasn’t quite come together just yet. Hence the Niners have allowed the fifth-most total yards per game in the league. Combine that with an efficient Cousins and one of the better offensive lines in the NFL and Shanahan’s club will have a very tough time keeping pace with these ‘Skins.

Pick: Redskins 33, 49ers 14
