The Los Angeles Dodgers jumped out to a 1-0 lead in the 2017 National League Championship Series after defeating the Chicago Cubs 5-2 in Game 1 of the NLCS. Chicago had an early lead after an Albert Almora Jr. 2-run homer, but the Dodgers answered with a few home runs of their own.
Game 1 was a banner night for LA’s Yasiel Puig who had an RBI double and his first career postseason home run. Charlie Culberson, who came into the lineup Saturday morning to replace Corey Seager, had a solid night in his first-ever appearance in the postseason. His sacrifice fly tied the game, and he was also responsible for a play at the plate that led to Cubs manager Joe Maddon being ejected from the game.
Game 2 will be a battle of the lefties as the Cubs have Jon Lester (LHP, 13-8, 4.33 ERA, 180 K) with the start and the Dodgers will have Rich Hill (LHP, 12-8, 3.32 ERA, 166 K) on the mound.
