It’s a must-win situation for the Chicago Cubs after falling to an 0-3 deficit against the Los Angeles Dodgers in the 2017 National League Championship Series. The Dodgers claimed Game 3 with a 6-1 victory over the sluggish Cubbies who need a clutch win in Game 4 to stay alive.

The Cubs got on the board early in Game 3 with a Kyle Schwarber home run in the 1st, but the Dodgers answered with an Andre Ethier home run to tie the game and an RBI triple from Chris Taylor to give the Dodgers the lead. It was lights out from there.

A big win in Game 4 is very possible for the Cubs, who will have veteran Jake Arrieta (RHP, 14-10, 3.53 ERA, 163 K) on the mound against lefty Alex Wood (16-3, 2.72 ERA, 151 K), who makes his postseason debut for the Dodgers. Despite Wood’s impressive numbers, he has never pitched in the postseason, and this could be an opportunity for Chicago to utilize Arrieta’s postseason experience to hold the Dodgers at bay.

There’s no question that the Cubs’ bats need to get working if they’re going to claim Game 4. The Dodgers have been pitching lights out throughout the series and the Cubs need to get on the board and keep their lead if they are going to stay alive.
