Frustration over the performance of the Tennessee Volunteers football is rising with heat on coach Butch Jones and now he’s feeling it from the bakery department at local grocery stores.

Entering week 8 of the college football season, and some coaching seats are hotter than others. None is hotter that coach Butch Jones of the Tennessee Volunteers. Living in Nashville, the talk on all the sports-talk stations centers on when he will be let go. It is a non-stop potluck that fans are feasting on.

With all good potlucks come a plethora of desserts. Sometimes you get some home-cooked pies. However, at this party, we are serving some tasty treats from Food Lion. Yes, to say the talk over firing Jones has risen to new heights is an understatement. After being ranked No. 24 in the preseason poll, the Volunteers’ recipe for success fell flatter than a soufflé without fluffy egg whites. Now, pundits and supporters of Jones and his team are wearing egg on their face.

The Volunteers started off with a great come-from-behind win against a pesky Georgia Tech team. A win versus FCS Indiana State was followed by a mind-bending loss to Florida. How do you let a wide receiver beat you deep so late in the game? They would bounce back with a win against UMass, who as yet to win a game.

Going into the game vs. rival Georgia, the Volunteers and their fans were confident they would win. Instead, it was a blowout loss to the Bulldogs. At home. Final score 41-0.

Since then, a loss to South Carolina at home set the temperature to it’s highest. And now, we just wait for the timer to go off. A loss to Alabama on Saturday is expected, but embarrassment will only be icing on the cake.
