Stephen Curry lost control of his emotions and his mouthguard on Saturday night, and he’s been fined pretty heavily for it.

In the final minute of Saturday night’s game against the Memphis Grizzlies, Stephen Curry threw a tantrum, and his mouthguard, at an official to get  a well-deserved ejection. The Warriors lost 111-101, which probably explains the frustration that led to his outburst, but Curry had 37 points, six rebounds and three assists prior to his exit and seemingly would have had little to complain about individually.

Kevin Durant and Andre Iguodala were involved on the periphery of the same incident, with Durant also being ejected and Iguodala drawing a $15,000 fine for verbally abusing an official. But Curry was sure to draw the most significant penalty from the league for his actions, shy of a suspension that would have been overkill.

On Monday afternoon, Curry’s fine was announced and the NBA has gone to the maximum they can for that type of incident.

Curry has thrown his mouthpiece before, drawing a $25,000 fine for doing so during the 2016 NBA Finals. So as a repeat offender, the fine doubled this time.

There are far worse things than someone can do than throw a mouthguard. But Curry’s fine also ramped up because he did it the direction of an official, and the gesture was surely accompanied by some choice words once his mouth was cleared of any obstruction.

The Warriors are obviously highly successful, with no end in sight to their run of NBA Finals appearances and rings won as long as things stay on the current track. But they are becoming less and less likeable over the course of time, from Draymond Green’s blatant disregard for where his legs go during the 2016 playoffs to Curry’s consistent act of entitlement that brings occasional tantrums like Saturday night’s.
