2018 NFL Mock Draft: Browns select another QB No. 1
By Brad Weiss
The Los Angeles Chargers are suddenly alive, and after losing their first four games of the season, they have won three straight. Within those wins are divisional wins against the Oakland Raiders and Denver Broncos, which could prove to be huge victories if they can stay alive in the Wildcard chase. Los Angeles is getting it done on both side of the ball, and incredibly, they were able to shutout the Broncos this past weekend.
The defense has always been an issue for the Chargers, who seem to live on blowing close games late. However, the combination of Melvin Ingram and Joey Bosa is one of the better pass-rushing tandems in the league, and it is giving teams fits. When it comes time to draft, they should look to bolster the other side of the roster, and bring in an offensive tackle who can protect Philip Rivers for how many years he has left.
Rivers is getting up there in age, but he plays with the first of a player in his 20s. Connor Williams from Texas would be the best tackle prospect in this draft had it not been for Mike McGlinchey, but he is still worthy enough of a top-15 selection. The Chargers have failed to have stability along the offensive line for most of Rivers’ career, so bringing in a player like Williams would be a nice change of pace for this team moving forward.
