2018 NFL Mock Draft: Browns select another QB No. 1
By Brad Weiss
The New York Giants are incredibly 1-6 this season, and after a great showing in Week 6 against the Denver Broncos, they really laid an egg this past weekend against the Seattle Seahawks. This team is lost offensively, as quarterback Eli Manning is basically playing with wide receivers who should not be starting in an NFL game. They are going to struggle mightily this season, and for a team that was supposed to get back to the playoffs, it has to be a disappointment for everybody involved.
New York might bid adieu to their general manager after the season, as Jerry Reese has made some questionable decisions in recent years. He spent a ton of money on his defense, and it proved to be the right play last season, as the Giants made it to the playoffs. This past offseason, he did nothing to bulk up the offensive line, and because of that, Manning has had to run for his life every time he drops back to pass.
Another issue with this team is the lack of a running back, and that is where they should draft in 2018. Sure, they need offensive linemen, but a player like Penn State’s Saquon Barkley would be hard to pass up this early in round one. He has the kind of talent that can make the Giants so explosive on offense next season, and with Odell Beckham Jr. back healthy, Eli would have dangerous weapons in the run and passing game for the first time in years.
