Dalvin Cook’s brother James has committed to Georgia, giving the Bulldogs yet another great overall player and a great running back.

James Cook, the nation’s No. 3 running back and the brother of Minnesota Vikings’ 2017 second-round NFL draft pick Dalvin Cook, has committed to the University of Georgia to play for the Bulldogs starting next fall.

Cook is set to graduate high school in the spring. The current high school senior at Miami Central High School chose Georgia over a number of other schools, including Louisville, Alabama and Auburn. In fact, he had offers from 16 schools other than Georgia, and all of them are solid programs.

The 6-foot, 182-pound four-star running back had initially committed to Florida State University to play for the Seminoles just like his brother Dalvin did for three seasons. James committed to the school back in March of last year, but he de-committed just four months later and has been getting offers elsewhere ever since.

By going to Georgia, the team currently ranked No. 3 in the AP Poll, Cook will be joining a program that has been loaded at the running back position over the years. Current running back Nick Chubb looks like he may have a bright future in the NFL, and Todd Gurley, the man who Chubb replaced, is already having a successful NFL career in just his third season at running back for the Los Angeles Rams.

And it would be a big mistake for us to forget about Herschel Walker, who was arguably the greatest running back in Georgia history and also had a relatively successful NFL career that still has him in the top 50 on the all-time rushing list in 43rd.

How will James Cook measure up to these great UGA Bulldog running backs, and how will he measure up to his brother Dalvin? While he is taller and thinner than his brother and thus much less of a bruiser of a running back, he certainly still has the potential to light up the box score.
