Week 9 wasn’t a good week to be a head coach in college football. Who were the hot seat winners and losers from this past week?

The time for departures is upon us. With Week 9 of the college football season in the books and the hot seat watch on, programs are ready to go in a different direction and changes will soon be made if they haven’t been already.

Many coaches across the nation are currently fighting for their jobs each week and some have basically reached the end of their rope. Others have managed to pick up wins exactly when they needed them and have bought themselves a little bit of time.

The first big fish to depart is Jim McElwain. The head coach and Florida mutually agreed to part ways after yet another disappointing loss. Here are the winners and losers from Week 9 of the college football season.

Kalani Sitake – Winner

The BYU Cougars have been a disaster this season and have completely fallen apart. Kalani Sitake and his team lost seven of their first eight games and changes could definitely be on the way regardless.

However, they managed to avoid having an embarrass loss to San Jose State and took care of business. That will buy the head coach more time and hopefully an excuse that it’s too soon in his tenure to let him go.

Then again things have fallen to the point where they might realize he isn’t the guy for the job and it might be better to dump him sooner to try and find a better option. Still, a win this past week was certainly better than a loss for his chances.
