College football picks: Week 10 FanSided expert picks and predictions
The FanSided college football experts are back to pick out some winners from the biggest games of Week 10 and maybe we’ll help you win some cash in the process.
Last weekend served as a separation Saturday for myself and Jack Jorgensen as we disagreed on a few of last week’s big games and I came out with a 4-1 record while Jack took it on the chin with a 2-3 mark. I successfully picked Georgia, Oklahoma State, Notre Dame and Ohio State, but missed on my pick for TCU as Iowa State pulled off another signature win this year. Jack missed on Oklahoma State, Ohio State and TCU.
This week we’ll be picking from Stanford-Washington State, Oklahoma-Oklahoma State, Virginia Tech-Miami, Clemson-NC State and LSU-Alabama.
Stanford at Washington State
- Schmidt: Stanford
- Jorgensen: Stanford
We’re both feeling the love for Bryce and the Cardinal to pull off the big road win at Washington State. Bryce Love missed last week’s game against Oregon State but the nation’s leading rusher is expected to return to the starting lineup.
Oklahoma at Oklahoma State
- Schmidt: Oklahoma
- Jorgensen: Oklahoma
Bedlam will serve as a Playoff elimination game with the loser suffering their second loss of the year and will also fall behind the race for the Big 12 title. The battle between quarterbacks Baker Mayfield and Mason Rudolph will be one of the best all year.
Virginia Tech at Miami
- Schmidt: Virginia Tech
- Jorgensen: Virginia Tech
Miami is undefeated but they’ve had to survive by virtue of a few last-minute wins. They are on the outside looking in for a Playoff spot but a win for the Canes will boost their strength of schedule. But Justin Fuente has his Hokies playing well and we’re both feeling the upset as Virginia Tech hands Miami their first loss of the year.
Clemson at NC State
- Schmidt: Clemson
- Jorgensen: NC State
NC State had Clemson on the ropes last year but missed a field goal at the end of regulation before losing in overtime. Now they’ll get to host the Tigers in Raleigh and they’ll look to keep their ACC title hopes alive with a big upset that would end the Tigers repeat bid.
LSU at Alabama
- Schmidt: Alabama
- Jorgensen: Alabama
LSU has played much better football the last few weeks since losing to Troy but playing at Alabama is a bit of a tougher test than Florida, Auburn and Ole Miss. Expect this game to be close for the first half before the Tide pull away — as they always do — in the second half.
