Wondering when and where you can see our favorite Marvel creator Stan Lee’s cameo in Thor: Ragnarok? We’ve got that for you here, as well as when he is mentioned again later on in the film.

Stan Lee’s cameo in a Marvel movie is almost as much of a Marvel Cinematic Universe staple as an actor named Chris appearing in one.

Lee, who is one of the creators of Marvel, usually finds a clever way to insert himself into the film — and that was no different for Marvel’s Thor: Ragnarok.

Lee’s cameo is pretty obvious in Thor: Ragnarok, as he is a somewhat important part of the plot as the conductor of the ritualistic sacrifice of Thor’s glorious hair.

Before heading into the arena to face the Hulk in a fight to the death, our favorite God of Thunder is strapped to a chair and unable to move. Lee appears with some sort of alien cutting device ready to cut Thor’s hair. Thor begs him not to, but Lee laughs and does so anyway.

I wonder if this moment is as representative of Thor’s departure from his past as the early-film loss of Mjolnir. As he loses the hair of his youth, he steps into his new role as the king of Asgard.

Lee is mentioned again, as Thor calls him a crazy old man when describing how his hair was cut when talking to Bruce Banner later on in the film. It’s pretty accurate, and I’m sure Lee had a blast filming that scene. I always wonder if the director is like “oh, I’ve got the perfect spot for a cameo” or if Lee comes up with the idea for the cameo on his own.

Either way, keep doing it, Stan. Like the two scenes after the credits, Lee’s cameo is a part of the Marvel movie-going experience.
